A super opportunity has become available for a mid-weight B2B Social Media Community Manager at a Global Engineering firm based in Johannesburg. This position is perfect for someone looking for something flexible as it is a 3-day week, 6-month contract. This role will see you coordinating and maintaining a strong online presence for the brand across all web and Social Media platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general Marketing support and input into Marketing initiatives. We’re looking for someone who has worked in professional services before and is familiar with B2B. While there is a Marketing element to this role, it is predominantly Social Media focused and includes formulating content calendars, generating content and content development, scheduling and assisting with community engagement as well as reporting monthly analytics. A candidate with basic Graphic Design skills would be a big plus (but is not essential).

  • Keep abreast of innovative social and digital media marketing techniques globally, propose and implement accordingly
  • Research and understand current trends across Social Media platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness of content
  • Proactively make recommendations to improve upon current marketing activities and presence, based on own knowledge and experience.
  • Provide input into Social Media and Marketing presence of the company globally and assist in planning and implementing various Marketing projects and activities, in line with business priorities
  • Create engaging text and graphic content for company Social Media channels
  • Develop and implement regular Social Media content plans
  • Ensure that project wins and successes, new executive appointments, employee publications and achievements, and general company updates are communicated promptly on Social Media, company website and other Digital platforms
  • Maintain a consistent Digital Marketing and Social Media approach and output in line with the company’s brand
  • Ensure that all media releases are repurposed for Social Media communications and posted promptly on applicable platforms
  • Oversee Social Media account layouts
  • Ensure that social and digital media presence is monitored, and that statistics are generated on a regular basis
  • Provide regular reports on the status of the digital and Social Media coverage and the effectiveness thereof
  • Proactively manage external agencies to optimise efficient and effective delivery to time and budget
  • Work with external suppliers and the Group Brand Manager to ensure that the website is kept up to date with latest information and content on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure that the brand’s presence on other external websites e.g. suppliers, associations, is optimal and accurate
  • Gain appropriate authorisation on any Marketing spend, in line with approved budget, receive and process invoices efficiently
  • Ensuring excellent and efficient service delivery to internal stakeholders globally
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure best generation of Social Media content for the organisation
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders and service providers to ensure excellent service delivery


The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Diploma in Marketing, Communications or Equivalent Tertiary Qualification
  • 3 years’ previous coordination experience with sound knowledge of the Marketing within a business to business Marketing environment – essential
  • 3 years’ previous Marketing experience in a professional services environment – essential
  • 3 years’ experience of managing multiple projects effectively and efficiently – essential
  • 3 years’ experience working on various Social Media and Digital platforms – essential
  • Proficient in all the relevant platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.)
  • 2 years’ experience of briefing and managing external agencies to deliver on time and on budget – advantageous
  • Basic Graphic Design experience including working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – advantageous
  • Knowledge of WordPress – advantageous
