A fabulous opportunity has become available for a mid-weight Brand Manager at a leading FMCG food producer in Cape Town. The role will see you assist the Marketing Executive and Marketing Manager with building strong and profitable brands, which consumers adore and our customers champion in both the Retail and Food Services channels. We’re looking for someone with food and new product development experience; someone executionally excellent. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving brand volume, value and profit targets. You will manage Innovation projects from concept to launch, and post launch measurement and build strong working relationships with all stakeholders (agencies, media partners, internal teams). You will be analytically strong and comfortable using available tools (e.g. QlikView, Aztec, Insights) to deliver sustainable brand growth. You will ensure respective category budgets are effectively allocated and tracked and that the brands have excellent in-store presence (pricing, packaging, POS, forward share, marketing material). Responsibilities

  • Being the brand and category champion within the business, building passion, belief and excitement
  • Support Marketing team with the development of the brand strategy in alignment with the overall long-term company goals.
  • Accountable for category-specific BTL Marketing material – from briefing agencies to execution and monitoring stock levels
  • Being the Retail Channel Marketing lead, working with the Commercial Team to deliver annual activity plans, including Marketing material for annual shows and events, catalogues etc
  • Execute elements of brand innovation & renovation plans in relation to the Gate process, including line extensions
  • Monitor and actively grow in market share performance
  • Building strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders specifically, media, advertising, digital, PR, promoter and specialist agencies
  • Building strong internal cross functional relationships with Commercial, Supply Chain, the factory and Business Support
  • Accountable for managing packaging of the respective product ranges, including regulatory and legal updates, SKU-works, brand website etc
  • Marketing representative for trade shows and events
  • Ensuring the Marketing budget up to date
  • Responsible for maintaining the brand look and feel across all platforms
  • Ability to interpret and influence product P&Ls

 

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • A relevant tertiary Degree/Diploma in Marketing/Food Science
  • Minimum 3 years FMCG experience on Brand Manager level with previously demonstrated success in this environment –in the food industry
  • Food and new product development experience
  • Proficient in MS Office and data and market analysis tools – eg Iri Aztec / AC Nielsen
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability mine data and information, and utilise accordingly
  • Comfortable with communicating and interacting with senior leaders
  • Proven skills and experience in delivering, managing and controlling large projects on time and in full
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality and compliance
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written) and facilitation skills with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives
  • Ability to multi-task, make sound decisions fast and work under pressure
