A stunning position has become available for a Digital/Social Account Director at a wonderful content strategy agency’s Joburg office. This exciting role’s key responsibility is to be the Client advocate within this creative and innovative agency. We’re looking for someone with a very good grasp of social and how to drive lead generation through content distributed on Social/Digital channels. You will be required to maintain key client relationships and is responsible for overall client satisfaction. The Account Director maintains a deep knowledge of the clients’ business, industry and competition and is ultimately responsible for the overall success of their clients’ (Digital) Marketing programmes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing strategically sound solutions to the clients’ business. Together with the Managing Director and Senior Management, you will be responsible for writing proposals and providing cost estimates and statements of work for clients, as well as continuously looking for opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell agency value. You’ll be required to understand all the solutions the agency has to offer and know how to package them up in the best way to solve the clients’ problems. You’ll oversee on-time, on-budget, profitable and high-quality deliverables for projects delivered by the Agency Project Managers. The Account Director role reports directly to the Managing Director. This superb role forms an integral function in the Company and works closely with the client and other departments including, but not limited to, the Management team, Project Management and Production team, Content team and the Finance team.   • Builds strong working relationships with clients
  • In depth knowledge of client’s business, industry & competition
  • Together with the MD and Senior Management, drive the strategic direction of the account
  • Pitches & defends agency work, concepts and proposals
  • Ensures the work is on brand and achieves client goals
  • Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of client’s products, competitors and business objectives
  • Provide ongoing insight and analysis of client’s business, strategies and requirements
  • Guide internal team through a client’s business and marketing needs
  • Build positive and productive relationships with clients, and work closely with Senior Management and Project Managers to maintain and continuously strengthen these relationships
  • Build trust between client and inter-agency teams, across all projects
  • Develop innovative approaches to improve client service efficiency
  • Develop quality client service processes to ensure client retention
  • Understand agency processes and how to best match it with client requests 
  • Provide client support in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Act as the primary contact for any client requests, enquiries and concerns
  • Together with the Managing Director, handle client contracts
  • Assist senior management in preparing strategies, plans, budgets, proposals and client presentations
  • Proactively guide client through agencies strategic, planning and production processes
  • Understand client requests and be able to determine if client project is right for the agency
  • Able to provide client POV from a business and marketing perspective
  • Obtain written briefs and confirmation of approvals from client
  • Corresponds, presents, negotiates with the client on briefs, estimates, SOW’s, schedules, project status & deliverables
  • Obtain client feedback, analyse issues and, with input from Senior Management, provide relevant solutions
  • Drive project direction and proactively handles changes with client
  • Together with the Project Managers, schedule and manage all client and agency briefs, client and agency meetings and client and agency updates in a professional and timely manner.
  • Produce all back-end correspondence such as meeting reports
  • Able to present and provide agency POV on strategy, creative and thought leadership
  • Understands production process and production needs of agency and client
  • Able to be proactive in production needs, accurately assess technical needs and guide client through the production process
  • Maintain a database of client service and communication documents
  • Look for new business opportunities and generate potential leads for new clients



The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant, industry related tertiary qualification
  • Motor experience – a big plus
  • In depth understanding of Digital and Social media, and Content Production
  • In depth understanding of basic marketing principals and best practices
  • Innovative and creative
  • A hunger for knowledge
  • A creative advocate for the agency, striving to maintain creative integrity
  • Able to prioritise effectively when faced with multiple projects
