General Manager: Tech Start-Up – Cape Town, Northern Suburbs

We have an absolutely terrific opportunity for a young, Tech and Digitally savvy General Manager to launch an innovative initiative within the property industry. Based in Cape Town’s northern suburbs, this is an opportunity for a truly outstanding entrepreneur to shape the operation of a game-changing service. As General Manager you will be responsible for the Direct Sales and Operations Management and will report to the Group GM. You will oversee the day to day operations of the company, manage the staff and key performance areas and will be directly responsible for implementing the brand vision and business plan to full effect. You will also be responsible for creating brand awareness, driving traffic to the site, ensuring that lead generation and sales are strong; and also overseeing and managing the performance of the sales team. We’re looking for an energetic, inspirational leader who can manage a sales team, can plan and organise and is young at heart. It’s a new business (essentially still a start-up) so you should be someone with plenty of energy who is willing to help grow the business. Real Estate knowledge would be advantageous but is not disqualifier but good leadership skills, digital flair and the ability to motivate a sales team is vital. Responsibilities

  • Building a sales and operations team who embody the culture and commitment of the company
  • You will be responsible for setting activities and commercial targets for members of the operations team whom you will hire, train, lead and coach, working closely with Human Resources to develop talent management strategies in support of business sustainability.
  • Responsible for all sales objectives in the areas related to all revenue streams
  • Ensure that each customer has an exemplary experience when dealing with the company
  • Contribute to and drive the execution of the strategy and growth plan
  • Develop and own the performance metrics, keeping abreast of emerging trends in the industry
  • Identify new growth opportunities and initiatives.
  • Ensuring that all revenue and expenses are managed prudently and within budget to maximise profitability and cash flow
  • Drive and oversee the ethos of quality customer service

 

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Business Degree with at least 5 years of Commercial / Digital / Operational / Sales experience
  • Demonstrated past experience working with strategic planning, operations, marketing and/or general management
  • Previous experience working in a high-growth technology company or start-up will be an advantage
  • Previous experience in working in a start-up or business that scaled/grew quickly
  • Previous experience in leading a diverse team and the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Some real estate experience would be an advantage
  • Consistent track record as a manager with multiple people reporting to you
  • Extraordinary relationship building skills
  • Passionate about technology and all things digital
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
