Role
Head of Department: Events


Responsibilities

  • Retention and growth of client accounts with an eye on revenue and margin targets
  • Produce and monitor financial forecasting and billing as well as firm control of team spend and reconciliation
  • Ensure regular and accurate tracking and trend identification in order to drive more efficient and smarter working practices
  • Build strong working relationships with key clients at a senior and strategic level in order to learn more about their event needs and challenges, gaining mutual trust and respect
  • Participate in client and campaign reviews as well as regular planning sessions
  • Lead/build network and relationships with artists, suppliers and venues
  • Negotiate discounted rates with key suppliers to improve campaign margins
  • Network regularly at industry events and associations
  • Oversee the direction and management of your event team as they deliver event campaigns, ensuring they deliver on brief, budget, deadlines and to the highest quality
  • Proactively look for new and smarter ways to improve processes and procedures to deliver a faster and more efficient service to clients
  • Ensure all event documents and paperwork are accurate and in place, including event running order, delivery schedule, staff briefing sheets etc.
  • Coach, mentor and lead your team with clear direction and focus on their roles and responsibilities in order to ensure they meet targets
  • Demonstrate a hands-on management style that guides best practice and raises team performance
  • Communicate regularly with the team to keep them up to date on latest developments and results (weekly team meetings)
  • Build the team and ensure they feel supported and deal with conflicts and challenges in a positive manner
  • Show tact, maturity and professionalism when interacting with your team
  • Be accountable for the team, complying with all internal processes to ensure quality standards are always met
  • Review and track workload capacity and hire freelancers or temporary staff as needed
  • Manage the performance of each member of the team, conducting regular reviews and ensuring their continual development
  • Report to the leadership team/directors on a regular basis
  • Participate in any training and development of leadership team
  • Conduct risk management assessments where appropriate

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Agency experience and background – a must
