An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Marketing Intelligence Manager at a leading financial services brand’s Cape Town head office. This excellent position will see you leading their Research and Consumer insights team. The successful candidate will be required to deliver strategically relevant market insights across the Group by partnering with key stakeholders to inform the overall business strategy. The Market Intelligence Manager furthermore delivers penetrating insights which reflect consumer needs and build strong long-term relationships. In this role you will also be responsible for insight development, operations as well as leading and managing relevant team players; you will report to the Head of Marketing.



  • Partner with key stakeholders at all levels (including senior leadership) during the business planning processes informing strategic decision-making through robust and relevant market intelligence and consumer insights.
  • Integrate fully with the Marketing team to collaboratively develop insights ensuring representation of all consumer and marketplace segments
  • Influence business stakeholders to ensure that consumer needs are taken into account in the development of operating plans
  • Strongly align research objectives to business strategy and direct the prioritisation of projects, effort and spend accordingly
  • Drawing relevant insight from information gathered and working with the business to make it practical and useful
  • Being the voice of the consumer in the business by developing thought partnerships with key strategic managers
  • Constantly advancing the brand’s ability to listen, understand and know consumers
  • Managing all aspects of delivering quality market research projects from briefing to final insight
  • Implementing relevant and best practice research methods for sourcing insight
  • Develop new methodologies and approaches that enhance the brand’s understanding of the consumer
  • Plan, design, implement and oversee all market intelligence initiatives business-wide, supporting the research needs of all business units, projects and initiatives
  • Effectively gather and manage quantitative and qualitative market and consumer data
  • Monitor the short-term insurance environment to add depth of insight to consumer behaviours
  • Manage relationships, budgets, deliverables and preferential procurement across all Market Intelligence suppliers within agreed measures
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and suppliers and seek opportunities for continual improvement of Market Intelligence capabilities
  • Integrate with Marketing, Brand, Digital, Communications and Client Care teams to identify synergies and opportunities
  • Manage the market intelligence budget and track accordingly
  • Lead, motivate and develop the market intelligence team
  • Build a high performing team committed to achieving success through each other


The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (including B. Degree/Diploma in Business, Marketing and/or Research/Statistics)
  • At least 8 years management experience in a Marketing Intelligence, Consumer Insights or Research environment
  • Previous financial services experience – preferable
  • Experience in leading and managing a team
  • In-depth knowledge of market intelligence principles and processes
  • Proven track record of implementation of client centric initiatives
  • Project lead experience with strong collaboration across groups and management levels
  • Sound knowledge of research principles, methodologies and trends
  • Relevant business-related knowledge and experience
  • General understanding of the short-term insurance environment
  • Strong research supplier relationships and networks
