Role Overview:

  • This position is responsible for the ingestion of mainly short form media and some longer infomercials while quality controlling it to the highest broadcast standards.
  • The role also requires some transcoding to different formats, file delivery with different FTP clients, and some occasional VT dubbing (DVcam & Beta SP, etc.).
  • The role also entails some fixing and minor editing of material.
  • The role entails liaising in person, telephonically and via email, with clients, suppliers, internal staff and other Adstream offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To QC and ingest all incoming material (short form and long form) to the highest standard and according to QC checklist.
  • To identify any potential QC issues that may be present outside of the normal QC process.
  • To ensure all material meets broadcasters loudness regulations
  • Arrange for outsourcing of any dubs that are required (DVCam, Beta SP, etc.) and DVD creation.
  • Transcode files using a variety of software tools.
  • Proficient in file compression with good understanding of currently used codecs.
  • Liaising with clients and the traffic team, reporting any issues and offering solutions where possible.
  • FTP uploads & downloads.
  • To take responsibility for and manage incoming delivery jobs via our ordering system, phone and email.
  • To resolve all day to day problems arising from this team and to inform/escalate to Head of Traffic & Ingest and Operations Manager, when necessary.
  • To establish and maintain great client and supplier relationships on a daily basis.
  • To liaise with the rest of the Traffic & Ingest Team regarding incoming material to ensure it meets country specifications and feedback any issues and queries to our clients.
  • To provide clients with accurate advice regarding technical and workflow requirements.
  • To ensure a smooth TV delivery workflow by communicating effectively with clients, local offices and internal staff such as Account Managers and Support Teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Advantageous, but not Mandatory):

  • Must have a pro-active and collaborative work ethic.

  • Very strong problem solving skills and the ability to take control of a situation is a must.
  • Valid driver’s licence and/or reliable transport.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work and live in South Africa.
  • Availability for shift work between the hours of 09:00 to 19:00.
  • Availability to work outside standard working hours on occasion.
  • Fluent in English language, with excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Experience in broadcast services related role.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role.
  • Some technical experience in multimedia essential.
  • The expectation is that you can use the full Microsoft Office suite as well as Internet, Skype etc.
  • Basic knowledge of FCP7 or Adobe Premiere.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical broadcast requirements.
  • Ability to use FTP and file acceleration programs
  • Knowledge of Harmonic ProMedia Carbon
  • Good knowledge of file transcoding
  • Good knowledge of MAC OSX and PC Platforms
  • To make sure delivery deadlines and SLAs are met.
  • To upload material to delivery partners/suppliers and TV stations for delivery and obtain PODs.
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or out of hours work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility for this job.
  • Provide support in global transmission matters to the other traffic teams in the Adstream network
  • Fluent in English language, with excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Availability to work outside standard working hours on occasion
  • Availability for shift work between the hours of 09:00 to 19:00
