Purpose of the role:             

The Account Director is a point of contact between the client and the advertising agency. The role is involved in managing their campaigns, managing their client’s advertising budget and ensuring that the client pays timeously.

The Account Director takes ownership over Media, Accounting, Creative and Production on all campaigns and has good project management experience across either above or below-the-line accounts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to Day

  • Lead and drive the team to provide excellent client services by managing the delivery of the account strategy as well as demonstrate excellent financial management skills ensuring profitability for your accounts
  • Assist in the development of the Agency’s relationship with the Client from Advertising supplier to Marketing Communication supplier to Brand Leader
  • Deliver or exceed your client’s business target whilst delivering or exceeding your income target
  • Assist with New Business activities, e.g. Project Management of a pitch
  • Ensure detailed strategic case studies of all campaigns are kept and updated every quarter
  • Explore and secure approval for Organic Growth + Cross-Selling
  • Adhere to company guidelines, such as timely completion of performance conversations and timesheets, accurate revenue forecasts and achieving ultimate utilisation of budgets and targets
  • Explore and recommend new cost-effective/innovative methods to deliver campaigns
  • Ensure that the company is at the forefront of innovation and that this knowledge is shared across your peer group and throughout your team
  • Manage day-to-day activity relating to the client account
  • Ensure the delivery of exceptional Creative services

Client

  • Have a clear understanding of the client’s operational requirements and deliver briefs to agreed plans
  • Continuously provide input into the strategic direction of each client account  and ensure communication of any directional changes to your team and the creative teams
  • Seek opportunities to develop more business opportunities for your client, utilising additional services whenever possible
  • Routinely review client account with management t assess business potential and profitability of account relationships
  • Control information gathered about the Client through accurate contact reporting, clear project documentation on costs, copy and artwork instructions
  • Deliver highest standards of client satisfaction, measuring this through feedback, surveys, and campaign evaluation and continuously adapting and adjusting approaches to benefit client needs
  • Manage client satisfaction evaluation process and achieve optimal satisfactory results
  • Ensure a clear understanding of the client’s business requirements and translate this into clear deliverables for your team
  • Ensure understanding of the relevant client contract and relevant legal/regulatory guidelines

Financial Management

  • Deliver the best solutions to your client and maximising profit for your client and the agency
  • Ensure invoicing and financial administration of the highest standards to ensure timeous collection of income for the agency
  • Provide monthly forecasts and income reports to your team associates
  • To monitor all billings procedures carried out by the Account team and alert Account Management
  • Director promptly to any likely changes to billing and Income or any potential write-offs
  • Manage Client and project profitability

Team Work

  • Raise the profile of the Department and foster good relationships across all divisions in the Company
  • Work in partnership with the creative teams to provide an excellent creative solution for your client’s needs at all times
  • Work with all departments to improve efficiencies and delivery on all accounts

Leadership

  • Manage your team by adhering to the Joe Grow tool
  • Manage the performance of your team to achieve or better income targets continuously
  • Allocate resources within your team to maximise skill set and client coverage
  • Coach and mentor individuals to develop the skills and talent that exist within the agency
  • Create clear Joe Goals for your team and yourself in line with business and individual needs
  • Adhere to and ensure adherence to company performance and behaviour expectations, e.g. timekeeping, timeous completion of timesheets, Company Policies and Procedures, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualifications: 3- 5 years Advertising qualification
  • Minimum years’ experience: +2 years as an Account Director
  • The ability to write comprehensive and insightful briefs
  • A sound knowledge of the relevant structures and processes in the agency
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Confident communication skills
  • Financial Advertising Experience
