We have a superb on-site opportunity for a Junior PR Strategist at a dynamic and fast paced, high performing strategic Communications agency, part of a national agency Group, in Cape Town. The Junior Strategist will form a key part of the agency’s growing strategy team, contributing to the thinking and strategic delivery across a portfolio of clients. While you will be working in the PR/Communications space, you can be a Strategist with a Traditional or Digital agency background.

Include but are not limited to:

Strategy Development

  • Interpret a client brief, understanding the different aspects of the client’s business that the brief aims to influence
  • Can differentiate between an Insight & an Observation, together with understanding different categories and roles of research
  • Can create and present summaries of research trends and competitor reviews
  • Can distil insights from research and articulate what it means for the work
  • Proficient knowledge in key research sources and has a good idea of where to look for insightful discoveries
  • Can define objectives and how to measure them
  • Appreciates and understands the principles and practice of consumer segmentation and stakeholder mapping
  • Can build an omnichannel ecosystem in favour of the brief’s strategic objectives that is effective in delivering the right message to the correct audience or stakeholder
  • Can translate strategy into a creative brief
  • Makes valuable contributions to brainstorms and workshops
  • Can document and visualise simple experience journeys in clear and compelling ways through editorial plans and content plans
  • Has a good understanding of the potential reach, affinity, and value reaction of different channels
  • Can weave a clear and compelling narrative through a strategy to ensure delivery with impact.

 Reporting and Analytics

  • Understands different categories of measures and what they mean for clients
  • Understands KPIs, targets and data sources
  • Understands the logic of how to prove effectiveness against key controls and KPIs
  • Can create analytics reports with sound insight and actionable recommendations.

Partnership and Integration with Group Strategy Teams

  • Collaboration and partnership with group strategy teams across Johannesburg and Cape Town
  • Teamwork and assistance on projects as required as a proactive positive representative of the agency in the Group.

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • At least 1-2 years agency experience
  • A can-do attitude, be solutions-driven and have an adequate understanding of key industries
  • Proactive and willing to think of new solutions or propose new ideas
  • Supports strategists with research, strategy thinking and development, reporting and measurement through various tools and platforms
  • Able to distil and compile strategic thinking into a presentation with a clear and cohesive story
  • Eager to learn, grow and accept new challenges and ways of working
  • Able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively while displaying initiative
