A large, full-service event and marketing company in Johannesburg is on the lookout for an experienced, efficient and creative Project Manager, with a passion for events and client service, to join their dynamic team. The company’s diverse team work very closely together, and such it is imperative that this position is filled by an enthusiastic team player.   • The client is placed at the very heart of the company and client communication and interconnection forms a critical responsibility for this position
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of a project from the conception of the initial creative idea to the last detail of its completion. This includes planning, scheduling, client liaison, supplier relations, financial management of the project and task management of the greater project team
  • Although their core focus is events, conferences, and activations, the company combines design, content, production and digital marketing solutions to supplement their core event services, therefore Project Managers within the group will work across all these fields
  • Conceptualise and prepare creative proposals customised to individual client’s needs and requirements and are often required to suggest ideas, themes or other creative possibilities to meet project objectives
  • Time management, workflow administration, task and team scheduling and timely delivery of projects and task are an absolute must! You will handle multiple projects and work within tight schedules
  • Expect travel, as well as working outside of traditional working hours
  • Contribute to growing the business and must be eager and willing to try new challenges, explore opportunities and all that this includes.

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 4 years substantial prior experience in live marketing/events – an absolute necessity
  • Superior project management, timeline-and-task management
  • Deep client service experience
  • Effective multitasking skills, backed up by a strong work ethic and drive to advance people and processes
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good problem-solving skills as well as superior communication skills
  • The ability to adapt to a growing portfolio of clients, projects and service offerings within a growing business
  • Good computer literacy – including (but not limited to) Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, cloud-sharing programmes, as well as the company’s customised project management software (which the Project Manager will be required to learn)
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Sound financial literacy is a must
  • The ability to build budgets and then accurately predict and negotiate costs, manage funds, and negotiate in order to stay within that budget
  • Driver’s license and own transport
  • Able to work very closely together with the team
  • Enthusiastic Team player – imperative.
