This is a wonderful job opportunity for an experienced PR Account Manager at hip and happening boutique PR and Digital Communications agency based in Cape Town. In this role as Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing clients and promoting them to their targeted audiences. An influencer of public opinion, you grow brands and help drive sales through a range of PR tools such as news items, press releases, case studies, product placement, events, and social media activity. You will be the key to shaping your client’s reputation and profile and will manage all communications across Paid (Advertorials/Marketing), Owned (Website, Blogs, Newsletters), Shared (Social Media) and Earned (Media Relations). The agency’s clients are some of the world’s biggest computer software and tech brands and for this role you will be focusing on their local SA Tech/start-up clients. This will cover digital skills, telecoms, sales and new business pitches.   • You will help oversee a portfolio of B2B Tech clients
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients to aid their PR and wider marketing campaigns
  • Provide comment and product/or company information to the media (newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online news sites)
  • Build relationships with new & existing clients. Build relationships with key media contacts
  • Liaise with clients regarding press campaigns, creative projects and PR solutions
  • Deal with the media, speaking to journalists and other members of the press
  • Provide innovative and creative ideas to clients
  • Brief suppliers (graphic artists/writers/videographers/photographers) for client projects and ensure they deliver to budget and brief/deadline
  • Track and monitor press coverage and Social Media for clients. Analyse, track and report coverage in written reports
  • Capture agency time to timesheets
  • Daily point of contact with key media
  • Develop industry, sector, and product focussed integrated-PR campaigns across Paid, Owned, Earned and Shared platforms
  • Manage the needs of the client and their accounts
  • Contribute to daily meetings and liaise and update clients on activities
  • Keep abreast of current PR/News/Media and Social Media trends and tools
  • Build client relationships and maintain a network of media contacts including journalists and industry spokespeople
  • Spearhead both traditional PR and social media projects and work closely with the agency Writer and Social Media Manager
  • Develop news angles, stories, and pitches to further the client’s profile, products, and services
  • Be involved in pitching for new business and developing PR proposals
  • Manage a high level of client interaction
  • Manage and mentor junior members of staff.

The successful candidate must have/be:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Previous PR agency experience
  • B2B client experience (Business, Finance, Tech) – is a must
  • Great at copywriting: press articles, exec briefing docs, speaking points, social media posts
  • Client liaison skills with excellent presentation capabilities.
  • Excellent media contacts across Print, Online and Broadcast.
  • High levels of communication – both presentation, verbal and written skills
  • Impressive emotional intelligence and interpersonal expertise
  • A passion for the media, including Social Media
  • Flair for creativity and strategic thinking
  • Strong understanding of Marketing
  • Good industry knowledge and experience in building influential networks
  • Solid computer prowess and Project Management skills
  • Outstanding organisation with an ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios
  • Service focused and sensitive to confidential information
  • Young, with energy and enthusiasm (bubbly personality and a wicked sense of humour)
  • Speedy and efficient
  • Loves tech and digital/social media/trends
  • Passionate about integrated communications and not just the PR-press release and media clippings
